Associate Medical Director *Up to $10,000 Sign-on Bonus* Company : Axis Community Health, a nonprofit established in 1972, provides comprehensive healthcare services to over 15,000 individuals across all age groups in the Tri‑Valley area. Job Summary : The Associate Medical Director (AMD) plays a key leadership role in ensuring high‑quality, patient‑centered care for our community. This position involves both clinical and administrative responsibilities, supporting the Medical Director in overseeing healthcare services, provider performance, and operational efficiencies.

Qualifications :

M.D., D.O. or Advanced Nursing degree with board certification in a primary care specialty field.

Leadership experience managing professional‑level employees preferred.

Current valid California physician or nurse practitioner license.

Knowledge of HEDIS, NCQA standards, Medi‑Cal, Medicare, and Utilization Management guidelines.

Experience with Medicare Advantage and ACO managers for care efficiency and quality improvement.

Basic understanding of CalAIM and D‑SNP population.

Experience with Epic EMR preferred.

Strong analytical, employee relations, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as a team, maintain confidentiality, and represent the organization professionally.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and Axis departmental systems.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities :

Advise the CMO on care transformation and strategies for the aging population.

Support adoption of Medicare Advantage and ACO Wellness and Care Management strategies.

Engage poorly performing clinicians for performance improvement.

Use claims and clinical data to identify improvement opportunities.

Collaborate on the Age Well Clinic to improve services for low‑income older adults.

Create coordination strategies for dually eligible Californians via Medicare/Medi‑Cal.

Serve as clinical lead at Second Street and Railroad clinics.

Monitor resource utilization to meet the quintuple aim of healthcare.

Provide direct clinical medical services in a board‑certified specialty.

Oversee clinic scheduling and protocol adherence.

Assist with provider cross‑coverage and after‑hours backup scheduling.

Supervise clinical providers and assist in conflict resolution.

Identify practice improvement opportunities with medical staff.

Maintain awareness of evolving medical practices and implement new protocols.

Participate in Community Health Center Network and staff meetings.

Perform related duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned.
