BDO USA is hiring a Tax Senior for its Core Tax Services team focused on corporate and ASC 740 responsibilities.

Responsibilities
Tax Compliance
Ensure client compliance with all applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.
Manage project planning and workflow to meet quality standards.
Answer preparer questions and coordinate engagement expectations.
Conduct detailed reviews of returns, raise potential tax issues, and provide appropriate review notes.
Meet internal deadlines to match client expectations for timely delivery.
Identify book-to-tax differences.
Research
Identify research needs, frame issues concisely, and present analysis.
Apply firm and professional standards for WTA and tax return preparation.
ASC 740 (FAS 109 and FIN 48) Tax Accruals
Apply firm policies and the BDO Tax Quality Manual regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48.
Prepare provision workpapers and discuss with team members.
Identify and discuss uncertain positions.
Review and prepare footnote disclosures in compliance with 740‑10‑55.
Tax Consulting
Assist with developing and implementing methods to maximize client benefits and reduce tax liabilities.
Identify consulting opportunities and provide support for projects.
Gather relevant information for controversy work efficiently.
Document significant tax positions in memorandums and ensure proper archival in GoFileRoom.
Strategy Development
Introduce and develop new or improved ideas to enhance client, firm, or personnel positions.
Prepare studies of tax implications and offer alternative courses of action to clients.
Other duties as required
Supervisory responsibilities
Supervise and manage day‑to‑day work assignments of Core Tax Services Associates.
Provide verbal and written performance feedback.
Act as mentor to associates.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics required OR Bachelor’s degree in another focus area and CPA certification required.
Master’s in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or related field.
CPA certification preferred.
Experience
Two (2) or more years of relevant tax experience, public accounting, or consulting preferred.
Industry expertise in one or more tax specialties preferred.
Prior basic supervisory experience preferred.
License/Certifications
CPA certification, Attorney, or IRS Enrolled Agent (EA) preferred.
Other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role preferred.
Software
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software preferred.
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Solid verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to follow instructions and prepare simple tax returns.
Proactive decision‑making and problem‑solving.
Effective delegation and training of team members.
Strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.
