AWS Agentic AI is looking for a world-class Applied Scientist with a strong deep learning background to help build industry‑leading Agentic AI (models, systems, and applications). Our mission is to provide a delightful experience to Amazon’s customers by pushing the envelope in Natural Language Understanding (NLU), AI assisted code development, reasoning and planning with LLMs, LLM training and fine‑tuning, and Applied Machine Learning (ML). As part of our AI team in Amazon AWS, you will work alongside internationally recognized experts to develop novel algorithms and modeling techniques to advance the state‑of‑the‑art in Agentic AI. Your work will directly impact millions of our customers in the form of products and services that make use AI technology. You will gain hands on experience with Amazon’s heterogeneous text, structured data sources, and large‑scale computing resources to accelerate advances in language understanding.
Key job responsibilities
Develop breakthroughs in agentic architecture such as autonomy, self‑validation, and continuous learning.
Mentor and guide junior scientists.
Develop technology strategy and roadmap supporting product development.
Develop prototypes for key technology, oversee the productization of the prototype, and develop critical assessment for the prototype.
Write technical reports summarizing R&D progress and communicate such progress with stakeholders.
About The Team The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Agentic AI team uses generative AI and foundation models to advance application development. In the space of software development and life cycle management, we see opportunities for AI everywhere—from IDE integration to web‑based tools and services—enabling engineers to work more efficiently. We explore new technologies, find creative solutions, and foster an explorative mindset that impacts the lives of engineers worldwide.
Basic Qualifications
PhD, or Master’s degree and 10+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience.
8+ years building models for business application experience.
Experience in patents or publications at top‑tier peer‑reviewed conferences or journals.
Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.
Experience in AI (NLP or multi‑modality models), Deep Learning, LLM model training, graph learning, static code analysis, or software engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using Unix/Linux.
Experience in professional software development.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $179,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $309,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
