Behavioral Health Chief Nursing Officer

CNO
will join an established nonprofit psychiatric system anchored by a 50+ bed inpatient psychiatric hospital. This role supports a Joint Commission–accredited program with a community‑focused governance model and a collaborative executive team, all committed to clinical excellence and safe, equitable care. The
CNO
reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and partners closely with the Chief Medical Officer and senior leadership to advance organizational priorities. The
CNO
will oversee a dynamic behavioral health service line that includes an inpatient hospital serving children, adolescents, and adults, an ECT service, residential programs, and coordinated step‑down and outpatient services. Collaboration with Quality, Risk, Education, and interdisciplinary physician and therapy leadership drives safety, compliance, and outcomes. Responsibilities include: setting nursing practice standards, strengthening clinical competencies, mentoring leaders, championing continuous quality improvement, ensuring readiness for Joint Commission and regulatory surveys, guiding strategic staffing and scheduling, stewarding budgets, advancing recruitment and retention, optimizing throughput and patient experience, enhancing physician relations, and aligning policies, performance, and culture across programs. Location: Hagerstown, MD. Compensation: $151,330–$195,070 per year. Living and working in the region offers scenic trails, rivers, parks, family‑friendly activities, and vibrant local arts.
