Medical Director, Pediatric Sleep Studies, Department of Pediatrics
The Department of Pediatrics Division of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, Allergy, and Immunology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and the UVA Children’s Hospital seeks candidates for a clinical faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level, to join our growing team. This position is ideal for a highly motivated candidate with strong interest in advancing their academic career through excellence in clinical practice, teaching, quality improvement, and advocacy. Clinical and translational research opportunities are also available.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in both pulmonary and sleep medicine, although we anticipate that sleep medicine will be the focus of their clinical effort. Rank, track, and compensation are dependent upon qualifications.
Our division currently has five faculty members, supported by three nurse practitioners, three RN clinical coordinators, a respiratory therapist, pulmonary function technicians, and two administrative assistants. The medical center has made a major commitment to expand pediatric sleep services and seeks a dynamic individual to oversee this aggressive growth plan in the role of Medical Director. We currently have one of the largest accredited pediatric sleep labs in the state and a 100% expansion of the sleep lab has been approved. Plans to hire a sleep psychologist and a sleep program coordinator are underway, along with a recently hired advanced practice provider focusing on sleep.
We have a dynamic pediatric pulmonary section with certified programs in cystic fibrosis, primary ciliary dyskinesia, and neuromuscular medicine, as well as growing technology-dependent programs and a expanding aerodigestive program. Patient care is provided at our state‑of‑the‑art outpatient facility in Charlottesville, complemented by a robust satellite program in the Richmond area and anticipated creation of future satellite programs. Outpatient care is complemented by an active inpatient consultation service. The division houses NIH‑funded research and a strong teaching tradition.
