Overview
We are seeking a full-time
Cloud Cyber Security Engineer
in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring adherence to Garmin’s cloud information security strategy, programs, and best practices. The selected individual will actively participate in designing and implementing technical cloud security controls (CNAPP, CSPM, CWPP), threat and vulnerability management, cloud platform protection, and logging. Cloud Security Engineer 2 is considered an expert in cloud security, responding promptly and effectively to security breaches within Garmin's cloud ecosystem. Essential Functions Serve as a technical resource for cloud services on Azure and/or AWS. Provide security-focused technical guidance to engineers in the public cloud. Partner with the business to ensure cloud-deployed services are secure, available, and compliant with Garmin and regulatory security requirements. Utilize advanced cloud security tools, including CNAPP tooling, to identify, analyze, and prevent exploits. Automate manual tasks using scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or BASH. Use IAC templates like JSON, ARM, Bicep, and CloudFormation. Conduct in-depth security assessments of Garmin’s cloud platforms, repositories, and containers globally. Perform regular security audits from both practical and theoretical perspectives. Advise on modern security, infrastructure, software development, and application technologies. Support security for microservices and cloud-native applications in CI/CD environments. Automate deployments using CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions and Jenkins. Manage and secure code and image repositories such as GitHub, Bitbucket, Harbor, Docker Hub, ACR, and ECR. Operate and secure enterprise container systems in cloud environments (EKS, AKS, OpenStack, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.). Deploy and manage cloud infrastructure components like networks, storage, databases, and load balancers. Mentor junior team members to enhance team capabilities. Lead special projects on cloud security solutions, testing, and implementation. Apply project management best practices to drive large projects to completion. Identify training needs to improve cybersecurity skills within the team. Evaluate and compare security tools and vendors. Communicate system operations and environment changes effectively. Ensure compliance with SOX, PCI, and other regulations. Meet or exceed all security requirements. Contribute to team roadmaps and priorities. Develop innovative solutions to complex problems. Understand Garmin's business model across various departments. Research and propose cost-effective new technologies. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business, or related field, AND at least 2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with public cloud services focusing on security. Experience with container platforms and related services. Experience with developer tools such as code repositories and CI/CD platforms. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Team-oriented with a positive attitude and collaborative spirit. Proven problem-solving skills. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Desired Qualifications Deep knowledge of cloud environments and security principles.
