Overnight Diesel Mechanic Join our team at Interstate Waste Services, Inc. and put your expertise to work as an Overnight Diesel Mechanic. We are the most progressive provider of solid waste and recycling services in the country, primarily serving Northern New Jersey, Southern New York State, NYC, and an Ohio landfill. Schedule Overnight: Wednesday to Sunday 6 pm to 5 am. Essential Job Summary Perform inspection, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on diesel heavy trucks and equipment. Conduct preventive maintenance inspections (PMI), troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild major components, and ensure accurate diagnosis and effective repair or replacement. Essential Job Functions Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Complete required paperwork using fleet maintenance software, documenting parts usage and repair times. Assist in repair and adjustment of equipment. Wash vehicles and equipment. Conduct safety checks on vehicles. Assist with service calls for breakdowns. Perform other maintenance related work as required. Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards. Requirements and Qualifications 2+ years’ experience as a heavy‑duty diesel mechanic. Experience with hydraulics, engine and transmission maintenance and repairs. Proficient with diagnostic software (Premium Tech Tool, Allison, Cummins, Peterbilt, Paccar). Skilled in chassis component repairs and maintenance (air brakes, suspension, drivetrain, steering). Experienced with exhaust systems with DPF. Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards. Assist with service calls for breakdowns. Must provide own tools. Valid driver’s license required.
