Inpatient Rehab (IRF PAI) Coder
to join on a remote, contract-to-hire basis. This role focuses on complex inpatient rehab charts with multiple comorbidities and multi-trauma patients. Responsibilities: Code
Inpatient Rehab Facility (IRF) PAI
charts using
CMG vs. DRG guidelines
and
IRF PPS . Manually abstract codes (no CAC) from charts that may exceed 90 pages. Assign
IGC codes
and ensure accurate functional status scoring. Collaborate with the team on coding questions and complex cases. Systems Used: Meditech Expanse 3M / Solventum Schedule & Training: Training:
9am–5pm EST, 1:1 support, 3–6 months onboarding depending on experience Work Hours:
40 hours/week, EST time zone, flexible post-training, consistent weekends if scheduled Qualifications: Open to
AAPC or AHIMA
certified coders Strong knowledge of IRF PAI, CMGs, multi-comorbidities, and functional scoring Experience with Inpatient Rehab or similar facilities preferred
Metrics & Expectations: Productivity: 4–5 charts/day (charts can be 90–100+ pages) Accuracy: 95%
