Key Responsibilities
Conduct on‑site chronic care clinics and sick call, as well as infirmary rounds as established by the Site Medical Director, Health Services Administrator, or designee.
Provide emergency treatment and respond to codes or health emergencies within standard guidelines.
Prescribe and document patient care in adherence to existing policies and procedures, utilizing in‑house resources before off‑site referral when possible.
Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with accepted practices for incarcerated individuals.
Communicate with the Medical Director or Health Services Administrator regarding patient care goals, lack of appropriate referrals, or necessary nursing or medical interventions. Provide input into facility mandatory committees as requested.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Advanced degree in an approved and accredited Nurse Practitioner program
Experience
Prior medical/surgical and/or emergency/trauma experience; corrections experience is preferred.
Ability to work effectively in the corrections environment and show patience and tact with inmate patients.
Scheduling flexibility required to rotate hours and shifts, and to provide coverage during emergencies.
Licenses/Certifications
Maintain current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of employment.
li>Maintain current CPR certification.
