Assistant Professor of Social Work (Tenure-Track) – Fall 2026 Department of Social Work



College of Health and Human Development , California State University, Fullerton (CSUF). Position Our advanced generalist curriculum offers policy and practice courses across child welfare, community mental health, and aging. We seek one tenure‑track faculty member with expertise in Social Welfare and/or Public Policy or Social Welfare Policy Practice. Teaching social welfare policy courses is the primary focus, but experience teaching social science research is also welcomed. The hire will teach broadly, advise students, serve on committees, produce research, and seek external funding in line with tenure expectations.

Required Qualifications

PhD in social welfare, social work, or a related field. ABDs may apply if the degree will be completed by appointment.

Evidence of the ability to conduct independent research.

Commitment and willingness to seek external funding.

Ability to work effectively and collegially with a culturally diverse community.

Preferred Qualifications

Research and/or teaching experience in Social Welfare, Public Policy, or Policy Practice.

Master of Social Work degree from a CSWE‑accredited institution.

At least two years of post‑MSW social work practice experience.

Previous university‑level teaching experience.

Record of publication consistent with career status.

The College and Department The College of Health & Human Development (HHD) provides exemplary education, research, and community outreach in human health and well‑being. The Social Work Program prepares professionals to serve vulnerable, marginalized, and underrepresented populations, emphasizing ethical practice, scientific inquiry, and social justice. The Department offers a master’s degree in social work with focus areas in child welfare, community mental health, and aging.

Compensation Assistant Professor (Academic Year) salary range: $6,221 to $13,224 monthly. Anticipated hiring range: $6,908 to $7,047 per month. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. California Equal Pay Act applies.
