Title: Litigation Associate
Location: Parsippany, NJ
Schedule: Onsite
Overview We are seeking a Litigation Associate to work at a mid-sized general practice law firm with offices in the NJ/NY Metropolitan area.
Responsibilities
Represent clients in civil litigation, administrative proceedings, arbitrations, mediations, and other legal proceedings.
Provide written and oral legal advice to clients, collaborate with other attorneys to ensure the provision of uniform high quality legal advice.
Conduct legal research and advise clients.
Draft, review, negotiate and file legal documents, correspondence and other documents.
Oversee or process E‑filing in State and Federal Courts.
Build and maintain client relationships and advise clients on legal rights, responsibilities, and strategies.
Negotiate settlements and plea bargains.
Stay updated on changes to laws and regulations.
Coordinate with paralegals and staff to prepare cases, meetings and other client requirements.
Collaborate with other attorneys regarding pending matters and case strategy.
Conduct client consultation, intakes and communicate with clients regarding case status, legal strategy, and other related matters.
Maintain a license (in good standing) to practice from the New Jersey State Bar including fulfilling all mandatory continuing legal education requirements.
Respond to emergent filings and other client matters.
Handle all other administrative duties as assigned.
Draft and revise all legal filings including motions, briefs, answers, due process petitions, contracts, resolutions, settlement agreements, and other legal pleadings/documents as required.
Requirements
Defending personal injury and other claims on behalf of large, self‑insured corporations, insurance companies and public entities.
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
New Jersey Bar Admission required.
Two (2+) years of litigation experience.
Trial experience is a plus and the ideal candidate has proficient research and writing skills and experience in representing public and private clients.
The attorney must have a strong work ethic, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Title 59, Federal Court experience in civil rights cases and New York admission are also pluses.
Ability to utilize advanced features of Microsoft Office suite, Coyote Analytics, I Manage, Westlaw and other online legal research platforms.
Meet with clients and other work‑related parties (courts, opposing counsel, experts, etc.) during usual/customary hours (9:00 am to 5:00 pm) and as work demands require.
Some travel required as dictated by client and firm obligations.
