In support of PPCWNY’s mission, the Clinical Informatics Director will optimize the use of clinical systems through education and training, reporting quality outcomes, and providing support in accordance with organizational goals. This role, under the supervision of and in collaboration with the Vice President of Health Services with a dotted line reporting to the Vice President/Chief Financial Officer and includes supervisory responsibility for one direct report.
The Clinical Informatics Director will lead the strategic planning, implementation, and ongoing optimization of Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems across three Planned Parenthood (PP) affiliates: PP of Central & Western NY, Upper Hudson PP, and PP of North Country NY. This role ensures alignment with organizational goals, promotes evidence-based practice, and enhances clinical workflows through informatics solutions. The position serves as a bridge between clinical operations, IT, and leadership, driving performance improvement and user adoption.
Essential Functions
Oversees Epic EMR implementation, upgrades, and ongoing optimization
Ensure system applications are aligned with overall agency goals, including reporting needs from various departments.
Develops and executes a unified informatics strategy across all three
Serves as a liaison among departments and locations that share application resources, ensuring Epic supports operational and clinical goals; interacts with vendors or customers as a subject matter expert for software issues and creating a streamlined workflow for end
Collaborates with clinical, operational, and IT teams to standardize workflows, visit-type templates, and documentation in Epic
Develops strategies and best practices to enable better collaboration and coordination among healthcare providers, streamlining medical quality assurance processes, improving patient safety and increasing accuracy and efficiency in practice management.
Coordinates with Epic analysts, trainers, and super users to support system adoption and user satisfaction.
Supports and evaluates ongoing review, revision, and training opportunities on the Clinical Information System (CIS) for all health center staff, including the implementation of health center staff competencies in the use of the CIS.
Acts as a clinical subject matter expert to evaluate new technologies and coordinate the implementation, post-go-live evaluation, and on-going use of the CIS.
Conducts audits of the CIS, monitors end user satisfaction, and creates performance development work plans related to best practices.
Coordinates processing and follow-up of requests for enhancements and changes from users or others who interact with the clinical information system, including revisions of
Provides advice, consultation, and feedback to end-user health center staff regarding the clinical use of the CIS.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of Medical Standards and Guidelines, Scope of Practice, Accreditation Standards, and regulatory issues related to clinical practice.
Works collaboratively as a member of the Health Services Administrative Teams. Develops and maintains a collaborative relationship with health center staff

Qualifications Applicants must possess the following qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Nursing, Pharmacy, or related field required
Master’s degree in Health Informatics, Nursing, Pharmacy, or related field preferred
Better Health Epic certification or successful completion of the Better Health Epic certification training within the first 6 months of hire is required
Experience
Minimum 5 years’ clinical experience in healthcare; with a strong understanding of clinical operations and systems
Proven experience in healthcare informatics, including involvement in EMR implementation or optimization, data analysis for operational improvement, and collaboration with IT and clinical teams
Experience in multi-site or shared service environments preferred
Experience in education and training of clinical staff
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Strong understanding of clinical workflows and EMR optimization
Strong understanding of information systems design, integration, and functionality
Demonstrated clinical proficiency and organizational, analytical, and leadership skills
Excellent communication, facilitation, and project management skills
Must be able to work a flexible schedule with reliable transportation and the ability to travel when needed
Must be committed to quality healthcare, excellent customer service and the values of PPCWNY
Willingness to function as a role model and educator
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with members of the health care team
Working Conditions
Standard health center and office environment
May experience visual fatigue working at computer with potential extended periods of sitting
Well-lit/ventilated

Work Schedule This position is full-time (40 hours per week).
Regular schedule will be Monday – Friday with occasional evenings and weekends.
Benefits & Compensation At PPCWNY, we are committed to equitable compensation practices and transparency. In alignment with these efforts, the pay for this position ranges from $115,980.80 to $145,000/year.
Actual compensation will be determined by experience and other factors permitted by law.
