The DarkStar Group, a GRVTY Company is seeking a Network Engineer with a TS/SCI + Poly clearance (applicable to this customer) to join one of our top projects in McLean, VA. Below is an overview of the project, as well as information on our company, and our benefits.
THE PROGRAM The DarkStar Group's team provides Analytic Software Development, Data Engineering, and Cloud Migration services, as well as interagency communication and data-sharing solutions, as part of an enterprise program that spans two major Intelligence Community customers. This project regularly has new openings for Software Engineers, Cloud Infrastructure Experts, DevOps Engineers, Data Engineers, SharePoint Developers and Administrators, ServiceNow Developers, and various other types of IT professionals.
Work on this program takes place in Herndon, McLean, and Bethesda (we cannot support remote work) and requires a TS/SCI + Polygraph clearance (acceptable to this customer).
The Role
The DarkStar Group is looking for a Network Engineer to join our Team! You will support the customer's data communications network; maintain the network hardware and software, as well as monitor the network to ensure availability to all system users; and perform the necessary maintenance to support network availability. You will support the customer by computing and leading the network builds and deployments within mission critical environments in the Intelligence Community.
When you join us, you will have the opportunity to take advantage of our Enterprise Training Program to expand your technical expertise. You will need to be proficient in CISCO network solutions, as well as software defined networks and firewalls from AWS, CISCO, Google and Microsoft.
The purpose of thise program, is to provide DevOps, applied technology investigations, operations and maintenance, and infrastructure lifecycle support services across the enterprise. If you are self-motivated and driven to automate to help the Government gain efficiencies, then this position is for you!
Responsibilities
Designing, installing, testing network infrastructure, configurations, and equipment such as firewalls, routers, and switches
Perform routing network maintenance, patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting
Installing and maintaining network cabling systems (pulling, terminating, and testing)
Identifying and resolving issues related to network infrastructure
Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skill, along with excellent collaboration and communication skills with technical and non-technical users
Experience coordinating and implementing network upgrades
A combination of experience with network monitoring, scripting, and automation
Hands-on experience managing a large-scale enterprise spanning on-premises local area networks (LAN) and cloud platforms (software defined networking/SDN)
Extensive experience implementing and troubleshooting network technologies such as SD-WAN, VRFs, OSPF, EIGRP, OMP, BGP, MPLS, and multicast
Strong working knowledge of circuits management (LTE, Broadband, and dedicated T1 - 100Gb, Ethernet, etc.) and ability to run cable, as needed
Proven ability to work in a dynamic team environment with changing requirements and competing priorities
May need to occasionally work off hours for network maintenance and changes
Lead Network Builds
Manage on prem LAN and VLANs
Troubleshoot network outages/restore as quickly as possible
Manage network equipment among multiple locations with the DMV
Apply network security techniques to include creating VLAN’s, configuring port security, and network interfaces
Create a weekly activity report
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree preferably in an IT related field 7 years of related experience; or a Master’s with 5 years of experience; an Associates with 8 years of experience.
CCNA or CCNP certification
Azure network knowledge, including skill with hub/spoke topology and familiarity with VNets, SNets, Network Security Groups, Route Tables, peering connections and route propagation
Direct experience with at least one other of the following cloud service providers: AWS, Google, or Oracle
Azure premium firewall policies knowledge, including hierarchy of rule collections (DNAT, Network and Applications, traffic shaping, IP groups)
Demonstrated experience designing and implementing network infrastructure, routing, and integrating with cloud infrastructure and partner networks
Proficient in network provisioning and troubleshooting on complex, global WANs, using CISCO and Palo Alto, or similar equipment
Demonstrated experience with network management systems like CISCO ISE and Junos Space
Demonstrated experience automating routine tasks with tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform
Demonstrated experience managing and maintaining network infrastructure and systems
Demonstrated experience obtaining system authorizations and maintaining their security posture
Understanding of network security
Experience with Next Generation Firewalls
Experience with Perimeter security best practices
Demonstrated experience with troubleshooting network outages/incidents and restoring services
Demonstrated experience with managing network equipment
Experience with creating firewall rules to allow/deny network traffic
Ability to communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment
Ability to estimate work effort requirements efficiently and appropriately
Strong public speaking skills and professional demeanor required
Desired Skills (Optional)
Direct experience with Terraform Infrastructure as Code -IaC
Experience with Insider Threat programs
Experience with managing and using Dev Ops concepts
