LHB is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Public Works, Structures and Survey team. This mid-level role offers the opportunity to apply your structural engineering skills to a variety of diverse and impactful projects, contributing to the development and improvement of public and private infrastructure.
The position will be based in either our Duluth or Minneapolis, MN offices, providing flexibility and the chance to collaborate with a talented team of professionals dedicated to excellence in engineering, architecture, and planning.
Position Summary
The responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to: Providing structural engineering design for a variety of Building and Industrial Design projects. Potential projects could be from a variety of markets, including commercial, education, healthcare, government, and industrial. Work effectively in a hybrid work environment Actively participate in virtual and in-person project and department team meetings Meet client objectives and exceed their expectations Prepare and review structural design calculations, drawings, and specifications Perform construction site visits and field observations, review RFIs and submittals Prepare written technical reports Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program 5 years of prior structural engineering experience with design of concrete, structural steel, and/or masonry structures. Professional Engineer licensure and the ability to become licensed in additional states upon request Valid driver’s license with ability to travel domestically, intermittently Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Revit Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and structural analysis software such as RISA Upon receipt of an offer of employment, applicants must be able to successfully complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, including a criminal/civil background check and drug screen, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations Preferred Qualifications
Experienced using Revit Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, time management, and problem-solving skills Design experience with existing building modifications Design experience includes steel, concrete, post-tensioned concrete, timber, wood, and masonry structures, as well as specialized analysis and inspections Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work with constantly changing priorities Attention to detail, quality, and accuracy Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and to work independently Good oral and written communication skills, including technical writing ability Salary Range
This position’s anticipated base salary range is $80,000 – $102,500 annually. (This position is eligible for year-end and profit-sharing bonuses.) Offer will be determined based on the selected candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity among our team.
