Clinical Research Nurse (CRN) – Diabetes | Faustman Immunology Lab

Charlestown, MA
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, flexible daytime schedule, up to 40 hours/week
Onsite:
100% onsite; early morning patient visits beginning at 7:00 AM
About the Role The Immunology Lab is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Clinical Research Nurse to support a groundbreaking Phase II clinical trial exploring the use of BCG as a potential treatment to reverse Type 1 Diabetes in adults and children (ages 8+).
This is an exciting opportunity for an RN passionate about clinical research, pediatrics, and diabetes care.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate study enrollment, protocol treatment, and ensure all clinical trial requirements are met.
Collaborate closely with the research team to deliver high-quality patient care.
Perform expert-level IV insertion and blood draws in children ages 8–20 and adults (daily requirement).
Maintain outstanding punctuality and reliability—families travel from across the country for visits.
Conduct and document FDA-oversight clinical trials following GCP and strict documentation standards.
Provide protocol education to patients and families, adapting communication for different age groups.
Support day-to-day clinical and research activities within the lab environment.
Collect and prepare specimens, monitor test results, and document findings in StudyTrax.
Participate in weekly research meetings and serve as a resource for study coordinators.
Perform and assist with specialized testing, including MMTT for pediatric patients and Glucagon Stimulation Testing for adults.
Conduct injection-site assessments (in person and via Zoom).
Ensure patient safety, regulatory compliance, and participation in internal audits.
Required Qualifications
Active RN license
Minimum 2 years of RN experience with pediatric (8+ years) and adult IV/blood draw skills (3–5 years preferred)
Clinical research and diabetes experience strongly preferred
BLS certification required
Exceptional attention to detail, documentation rigor, and reliability
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Ability to work effectively within a small, collaborative research team
