The Albuquerque Museum Foundation (AMF) advances the mission and vitality of the Albuquerque Museum by securing, managing, and stewarding private and public funds to support exhibitions, educational programs, and community engagement. As a trusted philanthropic partner, AMF connects donors, business leaders, and community members with opportunities to sustain and grow one of New Mexico’s most important cultural institutions. The Foundation manages a

$1.7 million annual operating budget , a

$15 million endowment , and a team of

ten professionals , working closely with

up to 30 Board members

and the Museum’s leadership. Position Overview

The

President/CEO

serves as the chief executive and visionary leader of the Albuquerque Museum Foundation. This individual is responsible for overall strategy, fundraising, fiscal management, and organizational leadership. The ideal candidate will bring a balance of

strategic fundraising acumen ,

investment and endowment oversight experience , and a

collaborative leadership style

to strengthen AMF’s long‑term sustainability and community impact. Key Leadership Responsibilities and Approximate Time Allocation

Fundraising & External Relations (45% of Role)

Serve as

chief fundraiser and ambassador

for AMF. Cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors, corporations, and foundations. Personally manage a portfolio of major donors capable of six‑ and seven‑figure gifts. Develop and execute annual and capital fundraising strategies. Oversee donor communications, corporate partnerships, and sponsorship programs. Strengthen philanthropic engagement throughout the community. Partner with the Finance and Investment Committees to monitor the performance of the Foundation’s $15M endowment in alignment with the Board‑approved Investment Policy Statement (IPS). Ensure compliance with all IPS requirements, maintain transparent financial reporting, and support the Committees in their fiduciary oversight responsibilities. Oversee the Foundation’s operating budget ($1.7M), financial planning, and financial reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and fiscal discipline. Supervise income‑generating operations, including the Museum Store and Onsite Food Service. Strategic & Board Leadership (20%)

Collaborate with the Board and Museum Director on strategic planning and alignment. Engage and educate Board members on fundraising and endowment responsibilities. Identify, recruit, and onboard new Board members with diverse skills and community connections. Drive governance effectiveness and align priorities with Museum’s mission. Represent AMF at civic, cultural, and philanthropic events to elevate its profile. Staff & Organizational Leadership (10%)

Lead and develop a team of ten, including development, operations, communications, and events professionals. Promote collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement while fostering a culture of accountability, creativity, and inclusion that reflects AMF’s values and commitment to our community. Ensure clarity of roles, performance expectations, and professional development opportunities. Model a management style grounded in trust, transparency, and respect. Human Resource Management (10%)

Recruitment and Hiring: Oversee the entire hiring process, from writing job descriptions to interviewing and onboarding new employees. Employee relations: Serve as a liaison between employees and management, handle disputes, and address employee concerns. Training and development: Plan and implement training programs and initiatives to improve employee skills and performance. Compliance and policy: Ensure the organization complies with all relevant employment laws and regulations and enforce company policies. Performance management: Develop and oversee performance appraisal systems to drive high performance. Qualifications & Experience

Minimum

7+ years of senior nonprofit leadership experience , including success in major gift fundraising and financial oversight. Proven record of securing six‑ and seven‑figure gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations. Understanding of endowments and working with investment committees. Knowledge of nonprofit finance, governance, and compliance best practices. Strong strategic, analytical, and communication skills. Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CFRE preferred. Deep appreciation for the arts, culture, and community engagement. Salary Range

$125,000 – $160,000 (commensurate with experience) and a performance‑based bonus Benefits

The CEO’s performance will be evaluated based on measurable outcomes including: Fundraising Impact:

Achievement of annual and capital campaign goals; donor portfolio growth. Endowment Stewardship:

Effective oversight of the endowment in alignment with the Board‑approved Investment Policy; timely and transparent reporting to the Finance and Investment Committees; strong collaboration with the investment manager. Financial Health:

Balanced annual budget, growth in contributed and earned revenue. Leadership & Culture:

Staff engagement, retention, and professional development success. Community & Visibility:
