Senior Civil Engineer/Project Manager
Location: Berkeley, CA

What You Will Do As a Senior Civil Engineer/Project Manager on our Transportation team, you will design and manage a variety of projects, including highways, bridges, rail, storm water management, and road/trail design. Your responsibilities include leading multi‑discipline teams, preparing design documents, supervising junior staff, coordinating with consultants, ensuring quality control, and mentoring.
Responsibilities
Organize and develop project teams to execute phases of projects, including technical studies, design, and inspections.
Prepare conceptual designs and construction documents using MicroStation/Geopak/OpenRoads and AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
Supervise junior staff and maintain a hands‑on role in deliverable production.
Develop project scope, estimate manpower needs, prepare schedules, and track progress.
Coordinate with in‑house engineering, architects, environmental/planning, and outside consultants.
Review design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and contract requirements.
Ensure projects meet quality control and assurance guidelines.
Train and mentor junior staff.
Qualifications
At least 10 years of professional experience on diverse projects.
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
Registered Professional Engineer (PE).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering software (AutoCAD, MicroStation).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in site development and construction administration.
Project management experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Software expertise in Civil 3D, GeoPak/OpenRoads, Bluebeam.
Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast‑paced setting.
Hands‑on proposal development and client presentation skills.
Local residency in Berkeley or surrounding area.
Interest in mentoring, supervisory, or team‑leader roles.
Experience with federal projects (plus).
Compensation The salary range is
$145,000–$190,000 , dependent on experience and geographic location.
