About the Emergency Department
94-bed ED
Annual ED visits: 100,000+ Daily APC coverage
EMR: Cerner FirstNet
Comprehensive Stroke Center
Dedicated Pediatric ED
1.7 - 2.1 patients per hour
Academic Affiliation: Yes, EM residents
The ED team is organized into pods based on acuity, allowing for a smooth workflow and efficient patient care. Our physicians work closely with nursing staff, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to provide compassionate care in a
fast-paced environment .
Schedule
Shifts: 8 – 9 hours shifts
No call
Malpractice: Coverage with tail
Additional Facilities Mission Hospital’s team also supports other regional facilities, including Mission Hospital McDowell, Angel Medical Center, Transylvania Regional Hospital, Blue Ridge Regional Hospital, South Asheville FSED and Highlands-Cashiers Hospital. While the primary location is Mission Hospital, physicians may have PRN privileges at these additional sites.

Qualified Candidates
Board-certified or board-eligible
in Emergency Medicine
Strong clinical skills and judgment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively under pressure
