Sr. Manager, R&D Portfolio Strategy and Analytics
At Bio‑Rad, we have a robust product development portfolio in both the Life Science Group (LSG) and the Clinical Diagnostics Group (CDG) that are essential to delivering innovation in support of our mission to advance science and save lives. Finance has a critical role to play in supporting this product development pipeline to ensure our investments support our financial objectives and project teams deliver on their commitments. We are looking for a Senior Manager to partner with our Project Management teams, our Finance teams, and Senior Management to shape the performance and productivity of our pipeline. In this role, the Senior Manager will be responsible for partnering with cross‑functional project teams to build and review business cases, advance our internal financial valuation models, support our portfolio governance committees, and perform ad‑hoc analysis to evaluate our product pipeline and provide transparency to key portfolio metrics.
How You’ll Make An Impact
Manage financial processes and portfolio deliverables in accordance with internal timelines and expectations to build a world class product development portfolio that supports our strategy.
Provide financial support and insight to project teams and build business cases to ensure we deliver financial value.
Partner with Project Management team to build stronger financial acumen across project teams.
Analyze key performance indicators and seek new ways to analyze portfolio performance and returns.
Seek opportunities to drive process improvement while also identifying where ‘fit for purpose’ solutions are needed for LSG vs CDG groups respectively.
What You Bring
Education: A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field. MBA preferred but not required.
Experience: Experience in portfolio management, investment analysis, or related financial roles is essential. Experience working with R&D, Manufacturing and/or Product Development teams is preferred.
Analytical & Quantitative Skills: Strong abilities to interpret complex financial data, perform quantitative analysis, and solve problems. Must have working understanding of discounted cash flows and financial return metrics including IRR, NPV, payback time, and ROIC. Must have strong understanding of P&L.
Technical Proficiency: Must be proficient in Excel, including building of financial models. Additional experience with ERP system (e.g. SAP) and/or project management system (PD Ware) are useful.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to building solid relationships and communicating business cases.
Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to ensure accuracy in financial data and analysis.

Compensation The estimated base salary range for this position is $153,100 to $210,600 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job‑permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and company performance.
