Program Overview Peraton is seeking a
Director, Application Project Delivery
to lead and oversee the successful execution of technology and application delivery initiatives across the
County of San Diego
account.
About The Role This senior leader will ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget—while maintaining the highest standards of quality, client satisfaction, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate is a forward‑thinking, results‑driven professional who thrives in complex, fast‑paced environments and is passionate about driving innovation and excellence in delivery execution. As a trusted advisor to both Peraton and County leadership, the Director will shape strategic direction, foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. This role will work directly with client leadership on escalations and continuous improvement efforts.
Strategic Leadership
Lead and manage the overall delivery organization responsible for 80-100 concurrent IT projects supporting County of San Diego functionally diverse departments.
Collaborate with executive leadership and client stakeholders to align delivery strategies with organizational goals and contractual commitments.
Drive operational efficiency, service excellence, and measurable business outcomes.
Operational Oversight
Ensure consistent application of established project management methodologies within a dynamic and evolving environment.
Monitor delivery performance metrics—schedule adherence, cost control, quality, and customer satisfaction—and proactively address variances.
Lead governance, reporting, and risk management activities to ensure transparency and compliance.
Financial and Resource Management
Manage the financial health of the project delivery organization, including forecasting, budgeting, and margin optimization.
Partner with HR and Finance to align staffing, training, and resource allocation with evolving program demands.
Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement
Serve as a primary point of contact for County leadership on delivery performance, escalations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior customer stakeholders and Peraton executive leadership.
Support new business development, transitions, and proposal efforts by showcasing Peraton's delivery excellence and technical depth.
People and Performance Leadership
Lead and mentor a high‑performing team of project delivery professionals, including architects, project managers, business analysts, and developers promoting accountability and professional growth.
Foster a culture of innovation, empowerment, and collaboration across all delivery teams.
Identify, develop, and retain emerging leaders to ensure long‑term organizational strength.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications
Minimum of 16 years of professional experience.
8+ years of progressive project management experience, including 5+ years in a leadership or director level role.
Proven success delivering large, complex, cross‑functional projects.
Experience managing project portfolios and leading high‑performing teams.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency (Green Card holders) is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Certifications: PMP or PgMP.
Demonstrated success with five or more years in a senior management or director‑level role overseeing cross‑functional technology delivery teams.
Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, or ServiceNow.
Strategic and tactical thinker with a daily focus on driving results.
Salary and Benefits Target Salary Range: $176,000 - $282,000. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to scope and responsibilities, the individual's experience, education, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
