DHL Supply Chain is seeking an experienced Innovation Practice Leader to strengthen our Tires and Automotive sector. This role requires a principal leader with a strong background in Innovation projects, specifically in Automation and Mechanization.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and deliver compelling presentations to customers during Business Reviews, Workshops, and Project Kick-off meetings.

Identify and explore innovation opportunities in collaboration with customers, fostering new vendor relationships and further researching recommended partners.

Develop a comprehensive Customer Innovation Roadmap and present innovative solutions tailored to the customer's needs and the DHL team.

Support customer engagement at DHL summits and community meetings.

Travel is required for approximately 30% of the role.

Qualifications

Proven experience in Automation & Mechanization with a focus on the following areas:

Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) / Laser Guided Vehicles (LGV)

Conveyance and Sortation Systems

Gantry Systems

Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS)

Robotics

Knowledge and experience in Digitalization tools, including:

Power BI

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Expertise in other innovative areas, such as:

Safety and Ergonomics

Sustainable Solutions (Electric Vehicles, Lithium-Ion technologies, etc.)

Security measures

Job Description The

General Manager – Innovations

works to identify opportunities to leverage and incorporate existing and emerging logistics technologies into the supply chain operations. Working in conjunction with DHL operations, solution design, IT, NORAM Innovation teams, the global Digital Manufacturing team and engineering to identify & prioritize technologies and potential solutions that apply at DHL. The Logistics Innovation Manager shall report to the VP Operations.

Key Accountabilities / Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for collaborating with DHL operations, solution design, IT, NORAM Innovation teams, the global Digital Manufacturing team and engineering teams to identify new automation and innovation ideas and projects that will generate cost and labor savings opportunities for DHL and its customers.

Significant contributor into the creation of the vision for innovations within our sector.

Work with sites in North America to collectively identify innovation needs to ensure all projects pursued have potential customers lined up for implementation.

Advise the business on new technologies and concepts that can create automation and savings across our customer base.

Develop and deliver business cases including company history, ideal product and site profile, benefits, opportunities, and solution fit.

Critical subject matter expert that assists operations management and solutions design as it relates to all implementations.

Create innovation roadmap for the sector with milestones from pilots to full implementations, including coordinating demonstrations and pilots along with documenting progress and results.

Active member of the regional innovation and global Digital Manufacturing teams.

Clearly communicate updates to all stakeholders, including the executive team, around our Automation and Innovation customer roadmap. Provide updates to Stakeholders including the NA Executive team.

Establish and continually develop critical working relationships with suppliers in collaboration with DHL’s Solutions Design, Innovation, and Ops Excellence teams.

Required Education And Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or an equivalent field required.

10+ years of experience in operations and supply chain management, preferred.

3+ years of project management experience in Logistics, preferred.

Demonstrated understanding of operational processes, data management and logistics modernization initiatives.
