Your Opportunity Stantec is seeking a Project Commercial Manager who will be responsible for all matters pertaining to the contractual and commercial management of the project. The role would ideally be based in the list of cities below, but other Stantec office locations may be considered.

Your Key Responsibilities

Address all project commercial and contractual issues, ensuring the company’s commercial and contractual position is protected and maximized.

Ensure the Project is commercially managed in accordance with Stantec’s policies and procedures.

Select and implement Project Management systems to meet commercial and design management requirements of the Project, focusing on proactive Claims/Risk mitigation.

Oversee and approve development and management of the Project Scope WBS.

Oversee and approve setup, implementation, and management of Project financial tracking and control systems, using Earned Value Management (EVM).

Oversee and approve development, baselining, and tracking of the Project Design Schedule.

Develop and maintain the Project Risk Register, based on review of contract conditions, project‑specific delivery requirements, client characteristics, and other project risks.

Manage Prime Agreement, including periodic reporting, invoicing, and Change Management.

Manage sub‑consultant and vendor commercial relationships, including solicitation, agreements, invoicing, payments, and Change Management.

Interface proactively with Design Management team and Discipline Leads.

Interface proactively with Corporate Risk Management, as appropriate.

Interface proactively with Corporate Financial Services, as appropriate.

Interface proactively with the designated Client commercial representative, as appropriate.

Prepare and issue contractual written communications, including Change notifications, Change Requests, and responses to Claims notifications, within required timeframes.

Oversee and manage Project Controls staff in their project role.

Review and approve periodic Project earned value assessment, cost reporting, and cost forecasting.

Prepare External and Internal (PGC) Monthly Reports; issue following review with Design Director.

Formulate the Project Monthly Commercial, Contractual and Risk Report and present it at the monthly Project review.

Ensure contract Insurances and Bonds are presented in accordance with the terms of the Main Contract.

Provide active supervision, technical support, mentoring, and training for subordinates.

Assist in development and maintenance of Company procedures and systems.

Other duties as directed.

Exclude full authority to take necessary actions to ensure Position Objectives are met, except where restricted by the Project Director.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Documented management experience for Alternative Project Delivery (APD) programs.

Applied experience with Earned Value management and forecasting.

Experience with scheduling large, complex projects.

Experience with claims management for design projects.

Sound knowledge and experience in design contract review and administration.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Self‑motivated with good organizational and interpersonal skills.

Able to cope with a demanding schedule and lead/coordinate a multidisciplinary team.

Education and Experience

15+ years of design management experience (or equivalent).

PMI certification a plus but not required.

Contractor experience a plus.

Travel will likely be 25% or less.

Pay Transparency In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed‑upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary Regular full‑time and part‑time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short‑term/long‑term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage, and paid family leave.
