Overview Reporting to the Director of Field Engineering for Financial Services, the Field Engineering Manager will lead a team of pre‑sales Solutions Architects (SAs) focused on acquiring customers in the Financial Services vertical. You will expand and develop a dynamic team skilled in enterprise software, big data/analytics, data engineering, data science, AI, and Machine Learning. Your experience partnering with the sales organization will help close revenue opportunities with the right approach while coaching new sales and pre‑sales team members to work together.

You will guide and get involved to enhance your team's effectiveness; be an expert at communicating complex, business‑value‑focused solutions. You will support complex sales cycles and build relationships with key stakeholders in large corporations.

Impact you will have

Hire, train, and grow a team of Solutions Architects for a company in high‑growth mode.

Consistently meet or exceed sales targets by ensuring your SA team knows how to qualify accounts, identify important use cases, execute technical evaluations in favor of Databricks, and establish themselves as trusted advisors throughout the customer life‑cycle.

Make customers extremely successful with Databricks and provide outsized value to their businesses.

Establish relationships across the business cross‑functionally (partners, sales, GTM) to make customers and the team successful.

Qualifications

7+ years of experience in the data space with a technical product (e.g., data warehousing, big data, analytics, data engineering, AI, or machine learning).

Experience in a scalable, customer acquisition motion, leveraging repeatable assets, establishing partnerships, ideally in the Financial Services industry.

Experience building and leading technical pre‑sales teams—hiring, onboarding, supporting pre‑sales professionals in hypergrowth environments; building a territory; up‑selling strategic accounts; and exceeding annual quotas.

Lead a team through best practices for technical account strategy, architecture discussions, and solution advocacy in a highly competitive and political customer environment.

Experience hiring candidates, ramping them up to be successful, and promoting them into larger roles.

Create positive morale for the team, establish work‑life balance, and foster a healthy and productive working relationship within the team and with other internal partners.

Experience working with other cross‑functional teams such as Sales, Product Management, Industry Go‑to‑Market, and Customer Success.

Experience driving executive alignment in accounts that guides strategic data platform decisions and establishes partnerships through adoption and growth.

Pay Range Transparency Databricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range for this role is $171,800 — $240,500 USD. The total compensation package may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.
