Primary Purpose

Administer anesthesia and anesthesia‑related care from pre‑anesthetic patient assessment through post‑anesthetic follow‑up, formulating and carrying out anesthetic patient care plans in collaboration with attending anesthesiologists to facilitate quality patient care, comfort, and satisfaction during diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures.

Minimum Specifications

Education

– Must be a graduate of a Nurse Anesthesia Program accredited by the Council of Nurse Anesthesia (COA) or its predecessor.

Experience Equivalent

– Applicable experience supporting the responsibilities listed below.

Certification/Registration/Licensure



Current, valid RN license or temporary RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing or a valid Compact RN license.

Current license or temporary authorization to practice as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) by the Texas Board of Nursing.

Current healthcare provider CPR certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network.

Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Valid national certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) by the National Board of Certification & Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).

Compliance with licensing and registration requirements outlined by Medical Staff Bylaws, Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, and Credentialing Policies & Procedures.

Required Tests for Placement

Specific testing requirements as determined during the hiring process.

Skills or Special Abilities

Provide care to the assigned patient population in accordance with the State of Texas Nurse Practice Act, established protocols, and multidisciplinary plans of care.

Make sound decisions in anesthetic patient care, demonstrate ethical norms of practice, and respect patient rights.

Exhibit strong organizational skills and effective written and verbal communication with physicians, patients, families, and medical staff.

Demonstrate patient‑centered behaviors.

Responsibilities

Maintain and implement knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact or govern nursing practice and ensure compliance for both the hospital and PCHP.

Develop internal controls to promote adherence to state/federal laws and program requirements of accreditation agencies and health plans.

Maintain and update knowledge of sanitation, infection control, safety, supplies, equipment, and appropriate utilization of supplies and materials.
