Job Title: Registered Nurse – Wound Care Specialist
Location: Kings County Hospital, Brooklyn, NY
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Assignment Type: Full-time, Contract
Pay Rate: $70–$75 per hour
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse specializing in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Care to join the clinical team at Kings County Hospital. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical-surgical nursing, with advanced expertise in wound and colostomy management. The Wound Care RN will be responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating treatment plans to ensure the highest standard of care for patients with complex wound and ostomy needs.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive wound and ostomy assessments, documenting findings and treatment plans.
Develop individualized care plans based on patient diagnosis, needs, and wound type.
Implement advanced wound care interventions and evaluate patient response.
Provide education and counseling to patients and families regarding wound prevention and self‑care.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff training, and education sessions.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
Evaluate and recommend supplies, technologies, and equipment related to wound and ostomy care.
Assist in policy and protocol development for wound and skin care management.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all patient rights and hospital policies.
Required Qualifications
Active New York State RN License (in good standing)
AHA BLS Certification (required)
Minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience
Proven wound and colostomy care experience
Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ASN or ADN) from an accredited program; BSN preferred
Preferred Certifications
Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN)
Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON)
Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN)
Certified Wound Specialist (CWS)
Wound Care Certified (WCC)
Additional Requirements
Must possess or be eligible for the New York State Department of Health Temporary Health Care Services Registration (required for assignment).
Ability to work effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds.
Strong communication, organizational, and assessment skills.
Compensation: $75.00 per hour
