Overview Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking for an Air Vehicle System Test Engineer – Engineering Field Service Representative (FSR) to join our Test and Evaluation (T&E) organization.

FSR will be embedded with a US Navy unit as the system subject matter expert, providing training on hardware and software, and supporting sailors with operations, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance.

Responsibilities

Interface with NGC, customer Flight Engineers, aircraft maintenance technicians, Navy service members, and subsystem SMEs to sustain operations.

Serve as primary interface between maintenance, design and flight test engineering.

Operate Vehicle and Payload Test Controller (VTC/PTC) during aircraft start‑up/shut down, launch, recovery, conduct static ground tests, and troubleshoot.

Essential Functions

Provide inputs to update Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMS).

Review and provide inputs during engineering development; execute Detailed Test Requirements, Acceptance Test Procedures, and Ground Test Plans.

Install, operate, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and modify equipment per IETMS and engineering directives.

Perform organizational/depot‑level maintenance and technical support on equipment, integrated systems, subsystems, and software at customer or field locations.

Develop general knowledge of all aircraft systems, VTC/PTC, engineering design and software; perform field integration, troubleshooting and repair at customer location including flightline or hangar.

Interpret and trace electrical and aircraft schematics; perform electrical and RF troubleshooting using multimeter, network/spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, TDR, etc.

Support review and analysis of engineering schematics, supplier design data; support functional test requirements including acceptance, qualification and system integration.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree in STEM (Science, Technical, Engineering or Math).

Minimum of 8 years engineering experience with a BS; 6 years with MS; or 4 years with PhD in STEM.

Willingness and ability to complete training in Pax River, MD and Rancho Bernardo, CA.

Willingness and ability to support an international assignment for a minimum of 24 months.

Willingness and ability to relocate to a core U.S. location if necessary.

Pass a new hire physical if required.

DoD Secret clearance or currently enrolled in CE; ability to obtain Top‑Secret/SCI clearance in reasonable time.

Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR).

Experience with aircraft ground test operations.

Readiness to travel worldwide, support customer needs, management reviews and provide technical leadership.

Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and effective communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to brief test results to senior leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to support a new or extended assignment at a company‑selected international or Guam location after the initial 24‑month assignment.

Active DoD Top Secret clearance in scope or currently enrolled in CE.

Previous unmanned air vehicle system test or maintenance experience; MQ‑4 Vehicle Test Controller or Triton BETTIE operator preferred.

Aircraft test or lab test experience.

Experience with equipment to test and troubleshoot aircraft systems.

Experience loading data and configuration files to aircraft assemblies.

Salary and Benefits Primary Level Salary Range:

$113,500.00 – $170,300.00
