Position Summary
As an Applications Engineer, you will provide engineering support to our sales and design teams, focusing on three‑phase power, automation, and communication within low and medium voltage switchgear. You’ll apply high‑level engineering concepts to solve real‑world challenges and help shape custom solutions for our clients. Key Responsibilities
Provide pre‑order engineering support, including preliminary drawings, communication diagrams, sequences of operation, and bills of materials. Collaborate with design engineering, mechanical, and production teams to develop innovative solutions for unique applications. Review customer plans, specifications, and scope of work to ensure alignment with product offerings and completeness before hand‑off to design engineering. Offer technical input to product development teams regarding new products or enhancements to existing ones. Assist in building a library of standard design details, tools, and CAD resources for repeatable applications. Deliver technical training on IEM products and applications to internal teams and clients. Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (NEC, UL, IEEE) during product and order evaluations. Provide ongoing technical consultation to internal sales and engineering teams. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent. Minimum 3 years of experience in design, applications, or field service roles with a focus on power products. Experience with AutoCAD. Switchgear design experience
Ability to read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings.
Experience with PLC and HMI programming, power studies, and protection coordination. Strong understanding of three‑phase electric power systems, including distribution, control, protection strategies, and rotating machines. Proficiency in communications hardware and protocols, especially Ethernet networking, Modbus, and IEC 61850. Familiarity with UL and IEEE standards (UL 891, 1558, 508A; IEEE C37.20, etc.) and the National Electric Code. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; self‑motivated and able to work independently. Compensation
Salary range: $82,560 – $158,600 per year, based on location, experience, and qualifications. Location
