Senior Software Engineer (C++) – Realtime (Flexible Hybrid in Overland Park, KS & Chicago, IL)

We design, develop, deploy and support real‑time systems. We care deeply about system reliability, testability, recoverability, fault tolerance, throughput, and latency. We measure times in microseconds, sometimes even nanoseconds.
Responsibilities
Design and implement components for the Cboe Titanium software platform, a low‑latency, high‑throughput exchange platform that powers global options, equities, and futures trading.
Develop core components in key systems such as order handling, market data, and risk management.
Build reusable internal libraries and tools that accelerate development across the entire exchange platform.
Collaborate with a team of engineers to design extreme fault tolerance, including failover and recovery capabilities with no loss of data.
Perform hands‑on performance profiling, tuning, and benchmarking to ensure nanosecond‑level performance across the platform.
Ideal Candidate
5+ years of experience with C++, with strong knowledge of C++11 or newer
5+ years of experience with Linux or UNIX‑like operating systems
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms
Knowledge of at least one scripting language
Experience with Hadoop and/or SQL desirable
Self‑directed, self‑motivated
Knowledge of network programming fundamentals preferred
You’ll Really Stand Out With
Experience working on low‑latency trading systems or other real‑time platforms.
Experience working in financial markets and knowledge of various order entry or market data protocols.
Hands‑on experience with C++20 or newer, as well as a working knowledge of Boost libraries.
Working knowledge of Python.

Pay Range US new hire base pay range: $114,750 – $141,750. Geographic differentials: 110% for Austin TX, Chicago IL, Denver CO, San Diego CA; 115% for Los Angeles CA, Seattle WA; 120% for Boston MA, Washington DC; 125% for New York City NY; 130% for San Francisco CA.
