Knack Studio – Savannah is looking for a driven ASSISTANT STUDIO MANAGER to become a member of our team. The ideal candidate should be extremely organized, proactive and possess a firm understanding of studio operations.
The studio manager will work independently to manage the day-to-day needs of the studio and its Independent Artists while reporting directly to the owner.
Role and Responsibilities
Ensure general studio cleaning is completed weekly
Load, fire, and unload kilns in a manner that maximizes time and efficiency; set schedule for firing ensuring class wares are ready for pick up within 2-3 weeks of finished class
Mix community dipping glazes
Management of reclaimed clay
Maintain equipment such as kilns and furniture, slab rollers, pugmill, and wheels; coordinate repair of equipment as needed
Train and manage studio assistants via weekly to do lists
Onboard new Independent Artists and employees
Oversee Glaze Your Own Attendants during walk-in studio hours
Check schedule weekly and ensure all classes are prepped in advance
Uphold and promote studio rules as outlined in the Independent Artist Agreement
Able to multitask and be pro‑active, can work without supervision
Work with the owner and team to identify and implement studio systems
EXPECTATIONS:
Be on time and prepared for each shift
Be a friendly, helpful resource in the studio and maintain a positive, patient presence with other members
Communicate urgent needs to owner in person or via a phone call; less urgent needs should be communicated via studio notebook
Report to owner and communicate with members any drips, explosions, or issues with work causing damage
Speak with owner directly in the case of any uncertainty
Schedule:
Part‑time
3‑4 hour shifts (12‑15 hr/wk)
Daytime & evening shifts
MUST HAVE weekend availability
