Position Overview

One of our Partners, is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide locum tenens coverage in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. The provider will join a well-established outpatient team seeing patients of all ages in a high-volume urgent care setting.

This position features a rotating 36-hour workweek (three 12-hour shifts) , a consistent weekday schedule, no call , and a strong clinical support team. Based on verified 2025 market data for urgent-care APPs in the Southeast, this opportunity ranks in the top 15% nationally for compensation.

Providers can expect to earn approximately$50,000 over the assignment , depending on shift count and schedule.

Assignment Highlights
  • Coverage Dates: January 2 - March 31, 2026

  • Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week (rotating, 36 hours/week)

  • Shift Hours:

    • Monday-Friday: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

    • Saturday-Sunday: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM

  • Setting: 100% outpatient urgent care

  • Average Volume: 35-40 patients per day

  • Procedures: Foreign body removal, suturing, incision & drainage, casting, and DME fitting

  • Team: Supportive staff with physician oversight

  • Orientation: 1 day prior to first shift (required)

  • No call or inpatient duties

Job Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages presenting with acute illnesses or injuries

  • Perform urgent care procedures (suturing, I&Ds, casting, splinting, DME fitting)

  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests as clinically appropriate

  • Collaborate with nursing and medical staff to maintain efficient patient flow

  • Document accurately and completely in the EMR system

  • Provide patient education and continuity of care coordination

Skills & Experience
  • Certification: Board-Certified NP (AANP/ANCC) or PA-C (NCCPA)

  • Licensure: Active North Carolina license (or ability to obtain)

  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (AHA required)

  • Experience: 2+ years of urgent-care, family-practice, or emergency-medicine experience preferred

  • Soft Skills: Adaptable, collaborative, and efficient under high patient volumes
