The Role Our client is seeking a
Senior Backend Engineer
to design, build, and operate the backend systems that power their causation-driven analytics platform. You’ll architect distributed services, optimize data pipelines, and enable scalable insights for enterprise customers.
This role offers meaningful ownership, greenfield architecture decisions, and the opportunity to build platform components that must perform at massive data scale.
What You’ll Do
Design and build scalable backend services and APIs that process large-scale marketing datasets with exceptional reliability
Architect distributed systems capable of supporting 10x growth in data volume and customer load
Optimize data models, storage, and query performance across PostgreSQL and related systems
Create robust data processing pipelines that turn raw data into actionable insights
Collaborate with frontend engineers to define efficient, elegant API contracts
Establish backend engineering standards and mentor other engineers
What Will Help You Succeed Technical Mastery
8 years of backend engineering experience with ownership of production-grade systems
Expert-level Python (FastAPI, Flask, or similar)
Working proficiency with Node.js
Strong database fundamentals (PostgreSQL, data modeling, query tuning); familiarity with Elasticsearch is a plus
System design expertise—distributed systems, performance optimization, scalability strategies
Experience with AWS or GCP and modern DevOps tooling (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD)
Execution & Collaboration
Ability to turn ambiguous concepts into well-architected solutions
Strong cross-functional communication and product intuition
Proven record building scalable APIs and high-volume data pipelines
Startup or high-growth environment experience
Nice to Have
AI/ML infrastructure or analytics platform experience
Stream processing technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, Redis Streams)
Lakehouse architectures (Iceberg) or ELT pipeline experience
Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to engineering culture
