Position Overview Apply promptly for the School Leader Principal Pool for the 2026–27 cycle.

Prior paid experience as a principal or assistant principal is required.

Applicants previously accepted into the pool must re‑apply.

Eligibility & Prior Experience

Paid principal or assistant principal experience is required.

Previous acceptance into the Seattle Public Schools School Leader Principal Pool requires re‑application.

Applicants must hold or be able to obtain a Washington State Administrator Certificate by the July 1, 2026 start date.

Responsibilities

Lead instructional improvement, set vision, and align curriculum with state and local learning goals.

Develop and evaluate data‑driven School Improvement Plans (CSIP) and ensure budget alignment.

Evaluate and support staff, conduct classroom observations, and promote best practice professional learning.

Maintain a safe, orderly, and equitable school environment, including discipline and safety plans.

Engage community stakeholders, build partnerships, and promote the school’s mission.

Manage fiscal resources, including budget preparation, monitoring, and resource allocation.

Participate in district and school improvement activities, committees, and meetings.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in education or related field.

Three (3) years of successful certificated school experience or experience required to obtain a Washington State principal certificate.

Valid Washington State Principal’s Certificate at the appropriate level.

Valid Washington State Driver’s License or equivalent mobility evidence.

Clear criminal background check.

Demonstrated ability to analyze data, develop budgets, and lead instructional teams.

Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.

Experience influencing adults to achieve student outcomes and working with diverse student populations.

Submit a cover letter addressing: leadership vision, relevant experience, one instructional initiative to improve achievement, record of student achievement, influence on adults, and experience with diverse populations.

Complete all reference and background checks within 30 days; otherwise, application will be considered incomplete.

Applicants who advance in the pool may be invited to additional selection activities.
