Head Custodian II
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, lead a small crew in performing routine custodial activities at an assigned K-8 School site and maintain buildings and adjacent grounds in a clean, orderly and secure condition. Perform minor general maintenance and repair duties, train and provide work direction and guidance to assigned personnel.
Responsibilities
Lead a crew in custodial activities, respond to requests and work orders, and inspect completed work for accuracy.
Train personnel, prepare schedules and assign daily duties, and provide input for evaluations.
Perform minor general maintenance duties, including furniture and equipment repairs.
Sweep, scrub, mop, strip, wax and polish floors; vacuum rugs and carpets; spot clean and shampoo carpets.
Clean classrooms, cafeterias, lounges, offices, kitchens; dust and polish furniture; empty waste receptacles; spot mop spills; remove gum, debris and graffiti.
Clean and disinfect drinking fountains and restroom facilities; fill dispensers; unclog drains and toilets.
Pick up paper and other debris from grounds; sweep concrete surfaces adjacent to building.
Operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, mops, tools, buffer/scrubber, steam cleaners.
Communicate with district personnel and outside agencies to coordinate activities and resolve issues.
Report safety, sanitary and fire hazards; inspect wheel chair lifts and fire extinguishers; report needed repairs.
Maintain and document property control of hazardous materials disposal.
Lock and unlock doors and gates; maintain security of assigned areas.
Monitor inventory levels of supplies and equipment; order, receive and maintain inventory.
Move and arrange furniture and equipment for special events; clean up afterward.
Perform routine grounds maintenance duties as assigned.
Participate in thorough cleaning during vacation periods.
Maintain records and quarterly safety inspections.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Proper methods, techniques, materials, tools and equipment used in custodial and maintenance work.
