Job Summary

The Director of Real Estate Investments oversees all aspects of the firm’s investment activities and investment teams, including sourcing, evaluating, structuring, and monitoring real estate investment offerings. The position involves oversight of the investment pipeline, underwriting, due diligence, performance monitoring and investor relations. The individual plays a critical leadership role with management responsibility of both the Due Diligence and Investor Relations teams. The role requires a combination of significant institutional real estate investment expertise, financial acumen, and management expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the Due Diligence and Investor Relations teams.

Refine and execute the firm’s investment strategy, with a focus on institutional quality 1031 Exchange‑eligible properties and various real estate fund structures.

Lead the sourcing, underwriting, and monitoring of institutional quality sponsored real estate assets across multiple sectors (multifamily, industrial, retail, storage, etc.).

Identify and evaluate new investment opportunities aligned with the firm’s risk/return objectives.

Oversee investment performance and work with Investor Relations team to shape investor communication strategy.

Oversee evaluation and due diligence of institutional real estate firms to determine whether investment specific evaluation and due diligence is warranted (sponsor‑level due diligence).

Oversee financial modeling, market analysis, and due diligence for prospective investments recommended to firm’s clients (product‑level due diligence).

Prepare and present investment recommendations to the investment committee.

Investor Relations

Build and maintain relationships with institutional real estate partners, sponsors, and our firm’s clients. This will involve occasional travel to events, conferences, etc.

Monitor market trends, tax policy developments, and economic indicators relevant to institutional real estate and 1031 Exchanges.

Provide and present thought leadership on economic trends and news.

Shape and oversee existing client communication strategy.

1031 Exchange & Product Structuring

Collaborate with institutional real estate firms to structure 1031 Exchange‑eligible investment offerings in compliance with IRS and SEC regulations.

Collaborate with legal, tax, and compliance teams to ensure product documentation meets 1031 Exchange and securities requirements.

Manage a team of financial analysts and associates. Proactively communicate with clients' advisors.

Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, Accounting or related field (MBA or MSRE preferred).

10+ years of experience in institutional real estate investments, acquisitions, capital markets, or portfolio management.

Experience with fractional ownership structures (DSTs, TICs) and syndicated real estate investment products (limited partnerships, REITs, fund structures, etc.).

Strong financial modeling, valuation, and underwriting skills.

Deep understanding of real estate markets, investment analysis, and risk management.

Excellent negotiation, presentation, and leadership abilities.
