Base pay range $160,000.00/yr - $220,000.00/yr

LHH is partnering with a Seattle client to help them find a Principal Data and AI Scientist. In this role, you’ll architect and deploy advanced models that power smarter and personalized customer experiences, and risk optimization at scale. You’ll work with the latest technologies—Generative AI, RAG pipelines, vector databases, and cloud platforms like Azure ML and Databricks—while collaborating with business and tech teams to deliver solutions that truly make an impact.

This is a fully remote role but candidates must reside in (WA, OR, ID, OH, SC, TX, FL)

Responsibilities

Build robust data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and storage to support ML workloads.

Deliver scalable solutions leveraging cloud platforms such as Azure ML, Databricks, and Snowflake.

Lead the creation and deployment of AI models using supervised and unsupervised learning approaches.

Architect and optimize Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines for decision-support systems.

Integrate vector databases and knowledge graphs to enhance AI-driven applications in underwriting and claims.

Apply MLOps best practices for CI/CD, monitoring, and lifecycle management of models.

Develop generative AI solutions for personalized experiences and automated decision-making.

Implement NLP techniques to extract insights from unstructured data sources.

Optimize models for performance and reliability in enterprise-scale environments.

Conduct architecture reviews and performance tuning for AI/ML systems.

Collaborate with business and technology teams to identify AI opportunities and define strategies.

Ensure adherence to ethical AI standards, governance frameworks, and data privacy regulations.

Mentor team members and foster technical growth.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, or related field; advanced degree preferred.

8+ years of experience designing and deploying AI/ML models at enterprise scale.

5+ years working with cloud-based AI platforms (Azure ML, Databricks, Snowflake).

Proven experience implementing supervised and unsupervised learning in production environments.

Familiarity with frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, and generative AI tools.

Strong skills in Python, PySpark, SQL, and distributed training on Databricks.

Knowledge of Azure ecosystem components (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Synapse, Data Factory).

Experience with NLP, generative AI, and RAG pipelines.

Understanding of agile methodologies (Scrum) and model governance principles.
