Head of Private Valuation – Boston, MA
A prominent global investment manager is looking to bring on a Head of Private Valuation to lead the valuation function for private and complex securities across a wide variety of funds. This role plays a key part in shaping valuation oversight, partnering across internal teams, and supporting senior governance bodies.
Compensation Base salary
$215K–$220K ; total package generally
$250K–$300K .
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and continually refine the valuation program for private and illiquid assets
Execute independent valuations covering private credit, structured products, private equity, and other non-public investments
Perform detailed valuation work for private credit portfolios
Evaluate market data—pricing, yields, market comps—to inform valuation models
Draft comprehensive documentation on valuation approaches, assumptions, and results
Liaise with external valuation firms, data providers, and audit teams
Support day-to-day valuation processes for traditional investment products
Develop materials and present valuation topics to internal committees and fund boards
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or similar discipline
7–10 years of experience in private security valuation or valuation-focused audit
At least 5 years directly valuing private credit instruments
CPA, CFA, or comparable certification is advantageous
Strong technical understanding of private credit, structured debt, bank loans, and other illiquid asset types
Expertise in valuation standards and accounting guidance for complex assets
Strong Excel skills plus experience with Bloomberg and market data systems
