Pharmacy Operations Manager

Responsibilities
Where state and federal laws/regulations allow, accountable for performing day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities; ensuring efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience.
Serves as a full-time certified pharmacy technician.
Responsible for operating pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
Under the supervision of a pharmacist, supervises pharmacy technicians and pharmacy cashiers within the guidelines of authorized company policies, laws, regulations and business ethics.
Responsible for the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel. Leads training, coaching, and performance management of pharmacy technicians. Makes decisions regarding discipline and termination.
Assists pharmacist in patient care activities such as patient registration, prescription data entry, medication preparation, counting, and verification (where allowed by law).
Completes patient and physician calls under pharmacist supervision.
Assists with healthcare service offerings including administering vaccines and health screenings (where allowed by law).
Delegates, directs, and assigns non-clinical work within guidelines of policies and laws.
Prepares and files reports and records required by the company and government agencies.
Manages core pharmacy workflow and drives excellence; coordinates daily schedule and allocation of pharmacy hours.
Maintains cleanliness, organization, and supplies of the pharmacy.
Ensures compliance with inventory management tasks that do not require pharmacist licensure and manages annual inventory preparation.
Completes non-clinical patient calls.
Drives new technology/process roll out and champions change.
Ensures proper operation and maintenance of pharmacy equipment and security safeguards.
Adheres to Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all prescription-dispensing activities.
Maintains knowledge of company asset protection techniques and supports the Pharmacy Manager on diversion monitoring.
Communicates prescription errors to the accountable pharmacist and adheres to company policies on errors and continuous quality improvement.
Ensures accurate processing of insurance claims and follows up with insurance companies and medical providers.
Supports Store Manager and Pharmacy Manager in analyzing and improving pharmacy financials, operational quality and customer service.
Manages Community Outreach Portal and coordinates off-site immunization clinics and community events.
Builds and sustains relationships with retail partnerships.
Customer Experience
Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer complaints, responds promptly to requests and answers non-clinical questions.
Develops strong relationships with customers by anticipating needs and proactively offering services.
Enhances customer experience by focusing on healthcare services.
People & Performance Management
Leads performance management of technicians, including discipline, termination, and constructive discipline policy.
Holds technicians accountable for attendance and timeliness.
Assists in monitoring licensure, registration, and certification compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Ensures proper procedures for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training per company policy and laws.
Supports onboarding, training, and scheduling of pharmacy technicians.
Identifies gaps in pharmacy operations knowledge and facilitates training.
Training & Personal Development
Maintains PTCB certification and state‑required certification/registration.
Maintains and enhances knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare.
Obtains necessary certifications, education credits, and training such as LTMP e‑modules.
Seeks professional development through self‑assessment and mentorship.
Communication
Communicates with pharmacy team, relaying messages from support center or key emails.
Participates in key store/pharmacy meetings and weekly check‑ins with Store Manager.
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
One year of pharmacy technician experience in a retail or hospital setting.
Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations).
Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management or leadership experience.
Previous work experience with Walgreens with an Exceeding Expectation performance evaluation.

The current salary range for this position is $22.50 per hour - $31.00 per hour. The actual hourly salary will depend on geography, skills, experience, and other factors. This role will remain open until filled.
