Petco Veterinarian Technician – Full Time

The Veterinarian Technician provides excellent veterinary care and outstanding customer service to patients and owners at the Vetco Total Care full-service hospital. Essential Job Functions
Greet patients and clients, record weight and vital signs, and document patient history in the electronic medical record. Assist the veterinarian with routine and emergency appointments, surgery, dentistry and euthanasia under direct supervision. Acquire and process laboratory samples, dispense medications, and maintain the electronic medical record. Schedule appointments, communicate test results, manage inventory and accounts receivable. Prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures and monitor patients during recovery and discharge. Administer injectable, oral and intravenous therapies and support patient cleanliness during recovery. Participate in training new staff members and general knowledge dissemination. Keep the hospital environment clean and perform regular environmental cleaning. Other Duties And Responsibilities
Perform additional duties as assigned. Provide backup phone and front desk support as needed. Education / Experience
College or college-equivalent education, completed Credentialed Veterinary Technician license in the state where the hospital is located. At least 1‑year previous experience as a Veterinary Technician or working in a veterinary practice. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Compassionate, professional demeanor during emotional and stressful situations. Telephone and computer skills. Team player willing to learn new techniques, offer creative ideas and accept change. Work Environment
The majority of duties are performed in the Vetco Total Care full‑service hospital. The role requires bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 lbs) and standing for long periods. Direct contact with clients and pets is frequent. Salary Range
