The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine seeks a faculty physician dedicated to diagnosing and treating Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD), including ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. The USF Health team includes physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and others working together to offer long‑term relief for IBD symptoms, minimize flare‑ups, and help achieve longer periods of remission. Clinical practice includes hospital rotations, inpatient and outpatient endoscopy, and ambulatory clinics in the IBD Center. The successful candidate should also have an interest in building a medical/educational research footprint focused on a nationally competitive research program.
Responsibilities
Clinical: primary focus on IBD, including advanced medical diagnosis and care by gastroenterologists.
Administrative: chart completion, patient follow‑up, triaging calls and labs.
Research: participate in research and scholarly activities, identify and apply for funding opportunities, and cultivate a multidisciplinary research environment.
Teaching: didactic teaching and mentoring of medical and graduate students, residents, and post‑doctoral fellows; participate in the development of the IBD Fellowship Program.
Other: responsible to a Chair or appropriate higher‑level administrator; handle teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities; provide academic advising; represent the university, college, or department.
Qualifications
Doctoral/Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, research, and service.
Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
For Associate or Full Professor: produced creative work, professional writing, or research in refereed journals and recognized as an authority in the field.
Strong interest in esophageal and liver diseases and general motility in addition to inflammatory bowel disease.
Hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent.
Candidate must obtain and maintain a full unrestricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at assigned hospitals.
Board‑certified/board‑eligible in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, or Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
