A leading global life sciences tools and services company is seeking an experienced and visionary Vice President of Business Development, Services & Partnerships to drive strategic growth with biotech and pharmaceutical partners. The organization provides innovative research solutions across protein engineering, cell line development, assay creation, and custom scientific services—supporting discovery in immunotherapy, epigenetics, cell signaling, adoptive cell therapy, and more.
With a rapidly expanding portfolio of 4,000 products and a growing custom services division, this is a unique opportunity to shape commercial strategy and lead high-value collaborations that accelerate drug discovery.
Position Overview The Vice President will spearhead business development efforts across the company’s custom services portfolio, including:
Cell line engineering
Assay development
Screening and profiling services
Protein and antibody production
Other specialized biologics and discovery services
This role requires a strategic thinker who can build relationships at the executive level, open new markets, and close complex, multi-stakeholder deals.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute the commercial strategy for the services business.
Identify, cultivate, and close new partnerships, licensing deals, and long-term service contracts.
Lead negotiations with biotech and pharmaceutical executives.
Establish collaborations that expand access to new technologies, markets, or customer segments.
Partner with R&D, Operations, Sales, and Marketing teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Guide pricing, positioning, and go-to-market strategies for new service offerings.
Represent the organization at industry conferences and customer meetings.
Build and maintain strong relationships across the life sciences ecosystem.
Mentor and develop business development and service-oriented teams.
Develop forecasting, reporting, and performance metrics to track commercial progress.
Provide regular updates on pipeline activity, contracts, and strategic priorities.
Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements
Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field (required).
MBA preferred but not essential.
10 years of business development experience in biotech, pharma, research tools, CRO/CDMO, or related service sectors.
Demonstrated success leading, structuring, negotiating, and closing major commercial agreements.
Strong understanding of early drug discovery workflows and research tools markets.
Executive-level communication, leadership presence, and relationship-building skills.
