Location Brooklyn, NY
Day Shift – 24/7 Operations Due to the nature of this role, you may be required to work various shifts such as weekends and/or nights/evenings.
Responsibilities
Assist in operationalizing and strengthening the Citywide privacy program, helping agencies comply with NYC's Identifying Information Law.
Independently prepare privacy compliance reports and analytical documents.
Monitor agency privacy practices, perform preliminary trend analyses to spot potential risks, and help refine Citywide policies based on data.
Coordinate with agency privacy officers to support the maintenance and implementation of privacy policies and procedures.
Generate project-specific privacy compliance documents.
Work with interdisciplinary teams (legal, IT, policy, contracting and procurement) to tackle privacy challenges.
Draft clear communication materials about privacy initiatives for various audiences.
Assist in responding to internal and external privacy related inquiries, as well as providing analytical support for incident response and preparedness.
Monitor developments in privacy laws and regulations, briefing the team on key changes.
Assist senior staff and technical teams in evaluating the privacy implications of proposed technologies and controls.
Help manage privacy aspects of projects, including tracking progress, identifying milestones and challenges, and preparing status reports, presentations, and meeting agendas.
Handle special projects and initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to projects and policies required by the particular position; or, education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above.
Experience working in privacy, data protection, cybersecurity, legal compliance, or a related field.
Familiarity with privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and frameworks (e.g., NIST Privacy Framework).
One or more IAPP certifications (CIPP, CIPM, CIPT, AIGP).
Ability to analyze data, spot trends, and clearly explain your findings.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good organizational skills.
Experience collaborating with technical and nontechnical teams.
A proactive approach and the ability to work independently with general supervision.
Genuine interest in information privacy and protecting identifying information.
