Mortgage Field Services Inspector – FAR INSPECTIONS
FAR Inspections, located in Reno, NV, is looking for highly motivated independent contractors to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders.
Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but the ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and work independently is crucial.
Occupancy Verification process: Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and send out independent contractors. The purpose of the property inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition using a mobile application.

Report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application.
Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Inspectors will complete all inspections in their county. In some cases, you may share a county with another inspector if volume allows.
Responsibilities
Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
Report general property conditions and make a determination of occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Spend extended periods of driving while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage a plus; you pay your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Rates vary based on county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of
$30‑$40 per hour.
Depending on county and whether it is urban or rural, you will complete anywhere from 20–500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates; higher volume counties have lower rates. The work is consistent month-to-month and you can earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
