About The Role Programme Manager

will oversee the strategic direction, implementation, and evaluation of WSCIJ’s programmes. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Programmes, he or she will supervise a team of Programme Officers, Associates, and Assistants, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s mission and driving sustainable, high‑impact initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Lead programme strategy, design, and execution, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.

Supervise programme staff, fostering a culture of mentorship, collaboration, and performance excellence.

Drive resource mobilisation efforts by contributing to donor engagement, fundraising, and sustainability initiatives.

Strengthen partnerships with stakeholders in media, civil society, academia, and the government.

Oversee monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) processes to track programme impact and inform strategic improvements.

Ensure compliance with ethical, legal, and organisational standards in programme implementation.

Promote a culture of impact‑driven storytelling, translating programme successes into compelling narratives.

Manage programme budgets and reporting, ensuring financial accountability and strategic resource allocation.

Strategic Leadership & Initiative – Ability to drive programme innovation, sustainability, and long‑term impact.

People Leadership & Team Coordination – Proven experience in managing teams, fostering collaboration, and mentoring junior staff.

Resource Mobilisation & Fundraising – Capacity to engage funders, secure programme funding, and develop sustainable financial strategies.

Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy – Strong relationship‑building skills to cultivate partnerships across media, civil society, and governance sectors.

Programme Planning & Execution – Ability to translate strategic goals into actionable programme frameworks with measurable outcomes.

Data Analysis & Impact Reporting – Proficiency in MEL processes, ensuring programmes are data‑driven and continuously improved.

Innovation & Adaptive Programme Management – Ability to integrate fresh approaches and sustainability interventions in programme design.

Who We Are Looking For

Master’s degree in a related field.

7–8 years of progressively responsible experience in programme management within a nonprofit organisation, preferably in media, investigative journalism, governance, or social justice.

Demonstrated expertise in Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) frameworks and data‑driven decision‑making.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and Central Management Systems.

Excellent leadership, strategic planning, and communication skills.

Proven track record in fundraising, donor engagement, and resource sustainability.

Commitment to ethical leadership, innovation, and continuous learning.
