Associate Manager – Field Services Outside Plant Construction Splicer

Overview As the
Associate Manager – Field Services Outside Plant Construction , you will lead fiber splicing operations across the Spokane market, drawing on substantial hands‑on experience in splicing, fiber testing, validation, and quality‑control standards to ensure the integrity, performance, and reliability of our expanding network.
Key responsibilities include functional leadership of non‑exempt Field Service construction roles and external contractors, direct support of capital projects and inside/outside plant maintenance, and management of front‑line escalations from cross‑functional teams.
Position requires 24/7 availability and, in some markets, leads a team scheduled to work seven days per week. It must reside within 50 miles of Spokane, WA, and involves frequent travel within the markets for coverage.

Responsibilities
Direct activities and personnel necessary for construction of installation and repair of TDS OSP fiber networks to ensure project timelines are met on time and within capital budget requirements.
Facilitate meetings with Network Services to depict project timelines and ensure project closing information is submitted in a timely manner, with materials and associate time properly allocated.
Provide leadership to the direct team and all other teams involved in OSP construction, maintaining a rewarding environment and coaching through process improvements as needed.
Assist Network Services in planning and execution of all capital projects to ensure timely and cost‑efficient completion.
Ensure compliance with all TDS policies, processes, and procedures.
Maintain good working relationships with all adjacent teams.
Serve as the management point of contact for all network projects and customer‑related construction issues in specific markets.

Qualifications Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) – or – 4+ years professional work experience.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
3+ years’ experience in the telecommunications industry.
2+ years’ experience in a supervisory role or equivalent leadership experience.
Other Qualifications
Strong overhead and underground fiber construction background a plus, with focus on supervising construction crews delivering high‑quality outside plant fiber projects within expected timelines and budget.
Must complete customer‑specific requirements, including background check, if applicable.
Demonstrated focus on associate safety.
Ability to coach a team of direct reports and contractors during emergency conditions such as network outages and cable breaks.
Available to work off‑hours when situations dictate.
Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a positive attitude.
Excellent problem‑solving, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Sense of urgency and a “can‑do” attitude.
Customer Focus Management and/or Total Quality Management training is a plus.
Enjoy working with people and team building (i.e., teaching, coaching).
Computer proficiency required.
Ability to handle stressful network outages and customer‑impacting situations calmly.
Physical Demands and Work Environment The associate regularly sits, stands, writes, and operates a computer keyboard, standard office equipment, and telephone. The associate frequently moves about and reaches for items, may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and communicates with customers.
