Overview & Key Responsibilities At Delta Air Lines, connection is at the heart of everything we do. As a Ground Maintenance Technician (GMT) in a stationary role, you will be part of the Ground Support Equipment team. You specialize in completing repairs and preventive maintenance on motors, controls, PLCs, pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, and machine shop equipment. Proficiency in diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications is essential.
Summary of Responsibilities
Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and repair with precision measuring and testing instruments.
Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts and using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
Ensure proper functioning of mechanical, electro‑mechanical, and electronic equipment by troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and calibrating industrial equipment according to approved manuals and procedures.
Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock, logging inventory levels, anticipating need, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt.
Prepare maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Qualified Candidates Must Also Possess at least One of the Following
Electrical/Relay knowledge – understanding and proficiency in repairing 12–50 VAC/DC control circuits, 120 VAC single‑phase electrical circuits, and 480 VAC 3‑phase electrical systems.
PLC Controls/Network – proficiency and knowledge of repairing PLC and associated computer network systems (Allen Bradley PLCs, SLC 500, SLC 5000, Micro Logix).
Industrial Maintenance – knowledge of PLB operations, conveyor systems, and heavy equipment maintenance on hydraulics/electrical/mechanical systems.
Industrial A/C refrigeration – knowledge of high‑pressure and low‑pressure systems and related software.
400 Hz Generator/Inverter Ground Power – strong understanding of electronic and electrical components, ability to read schematics, and experience with Jetpower II, Jetpower Plus, and CSI units.
Minimum Qualifications
Consistently prioritizes safety and security.

High school diploma, GED, or equivalency.
At least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States.
Valid driver's license.
Proficient in English.
Ability to lift 50–70 lb.
Willing to work fixed/rotating schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Completion of a two‑year degree at a post‑secondary technical school or a minimum of three years of demonstrated ability.
Satisfactory score on entry tests.
Preferred Qualifications
Detailed understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Ability to read, comprehend, and apply technical documents, manuals, and schematics.
Strong communication and teamwork while coordinating repairs.
