Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist
About Union Square Practice
Founded in 2013, Union Square Practice (USP) is a thriving, collaborative group of psychologists, psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and therapists who provide thoughtful, evidence-based mental health care grounded in genuine human connection. We offer integrated psychotherapy and medication management for adults, children, adolescents, couples, and families, and emphasize a practical, warm, and down‑to‑earth approach.
Our mission is to create a supportive community where clinicians feel connected, respected, and energized. We believe that when clinicians are thriving patients receive the best care.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced
Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist
to join our collegial and supportive team in New York City.
This role is ideal for a psychiatrist who:
Has at least 5 years of post-training clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and their families
Enjoys providing both psychotherapy and psychopharmacology and psychiatric evaluations
Values collaboration with psychologists, social workers, NPs, and other psychiatrists
Is energized by working with a patient population with a clinical predominance of anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, school/peer stress, and family/relationship challenges
You’ll conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, provide ongoing medication management, and offer individual and/or family therapy for your own panel of child and adolescent patients. It is possible to see adult patients as well but the expectation is to see predominantly children and adolescents.
What We Offer
Our model blends the stability of employment with the autonomy of private practice. You’ll have a high degree of control over how you structure your work, with robust infrastructure to support you.
You can expect:
Full administrative support, including scheduling, billing, prescription refills, and coordination with families and outside providers
A mix of psychopharmacology and psychotherapy, tailored to your interests and expertise
Weekly case conferences and ongoing trainings, with a strong culture of consultation and learning across disciplines
Collaboration with senior clinicians in psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and child/adolescent psychiatry
A collegial, down‑to‑earth team environment that values warmth, humor, and practicality in clinical work
Flexibility to shape your clinical niche (e.g., anxiety, ADHD, school avoidance, OCD, performance concerns) while maintaining a broad child & adolescent practice
Competitive compensation and benefits, with earning potential aligned with experience, caseload, and services provided
Practice Model
Primarily in-person at our New York City office (typically 3–4 days per week on-site), with telehealth as a component
Comprehensive evaluations (60–90 minutes) for children and adolescents, with time built in for collateral contact with parents, schools, and other providers
Ongoing treatment that may include: Medication management
Individual therapy
Parent guidance and family sessions
Opportunity to collaborate closely with psychologists and therapists providing therapy to your patients, or to serve as both therapist and prescriber when clinically appropriate
Ability to set your own schedule and vacations, within reasonable practice needs
Minimum Qualifications
MD or DO with Board Certification or Eligibility in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
Active New York State medical license (or eligibility to obtain one in a timely manner)
Current DEA registration and authorization to prescribe in New York State
Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and their families (post-residency/fellowship)
Demonstrated experience with both psychotherapy and psychopharmacology for child and adolescent populations
Comfort working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary group practice
Commitment to evidence-based care, ongoing learning, and a practical, human, and warm therapeutic style
