Briggs & Stratton
Supports a set of commodities in the development and implementation of strategic sourcing activities across the enterprise. Assists the strategic sourcing process for assigned commodities by data gathering, identifying suppliers, quote preparation, supplier qualification, and gap analysis to make robust decisions regarding supplier selection and sourcing needs. Helps to develop global commodity sourcing strategies, and identify cost reduction opportunities for assigned commodities.
Job Responsibilities
Analyzes broad purchasing practices, quotes and reviews cost/price and value analysis to support review and selection of alternative suppliers Partners with Category Manager to build and manage high level supplier relationships: communicates supplier performance & gaps to goals, and outlines improvement to ensure business objectives are met Identifies opportunities for supplier training on relevant processes and procedures Builds strategic sourcing goals and metrics for cost reduction, supplier performance, and sourcing decisions based on input from the category team to track and monitor performance Researches and evaluates the benefits of contracts, open-market purchases and out-sourcing as directed by the Category Manager Reviews savings opportunities and aligns with the Category Managers on the development of any corrective action plans Assists with recommendations and implementation of changes in processes or procedures for assigned areas Defines, resolves, and provides permanent solutions to systemic supplier performance issues Support the procurement teams to set up and maintain of internal item catalogues Acts as a communication liaison for key stakeholders Performs other duties as assigned Job Skills Requirements
Comprehensive knowledge of strategic sourcing and supply strategies, purchasing function concepts and of supplier commodity processes and practices Strong written and verbal communication skills for report writing, presentations and interactions with diverse groups of people inside and outside of the corporation Proficiency with PC software and SAP Ability to work in a team environment and to build and manage business relationships Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and component applications, Statistical Process Control and other significant quality management techniques Strong knowledge of basic Geometric Dimension & Tolerance (GD&T) principles Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location Education
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field, or equivalent education and experience Experience Requirements
