Summary Assists, provides, and coordinates nursing care for patients to obtain and reach optimal health. Participates with the care teams in Summa Health Medical Group to provide patient‑focused care. Is able to maintain and adapt to daily operations, interpret and execute provided instructions, and work reliably with professionalism in a medical office environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Formal Education Required:

Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Applicants with an Associate’s degree will be considered but are required to obtain a BSN within three (3) years of employment

Graduate of a program of professional nursing that is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)

Current license to practice registered nursing in the State of Ohio

Experience & Training Required:

Current license as a Registered Nurse by the State of Ohio

Meets continuing education requirements in order to maintain license

One (1) year of clinical patient care experience

Additional related previous experience may be required for various practices

CPR certification required

Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:

Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practice, and clinical care

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and EMR

Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care

Skill in taking medical history to assess medical condition and interpret findings

Maintains HIPAA confidentiality

Must pass yearly clinical skill competencies

Required ability to handle bodily fluids and possible exposure to communicable disease

Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team, and shows ability to be self‑directed in executing responsibilities

Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients with an understanding of their needs for self‑respect and dignity

Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and other health care professionals in exchanging information and assisting with patient care

Ability to communicate with patients, families, visitors, and communicating representatives in assisting to achieve health care goals

Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations

Ability to travel between locations as needed within the medical group

Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self‑respect and dignity

Level of Physical Demands:

Light: Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to ten pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously

Salary $31.83/hr – $38.19/hr (base salary only; bonuses and differentials not included)
