Job Overview
Flint Hills Resources is looking for an Operations Technician to join our team at our Asphalt plant in Savage, MN. The technician will work as part of a team to ensure the overall operation of the terminal, including receipt and shipment of raw materials and asphalt products, manufacturing of asphalt products, lab testing, inspection, record‑keeping, computer‑oriented tasks, and maintenance of the equipment in the facility. Coordination with schedulers will ensure successful delivery and receipt of asphalt products by truck and production of finished products to meet customer demands.
Responsibilities
Use the data management system to input computer data and manage assigned duties
Support the team while managing small projects
Assist with product production and transfers
Maintain equipment and troubleshoot mechanical issues
Test system safety devices
Conduct periodic inspections of tanks, valves, piping, and other product quality control or technical tasks related to an asphalt facility
Operate with a valid driver’s license
Physical Requirements
Approved for respiratory protection and HAZWOPER programs
Physically able to frequently stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, reach, handle, bend, twist, climb, and balance
Lift up to 50 pounds (frequent carrying up to 25 pounds)
Respond to audio alarms or other loud noises indicating a safety concern
Work near moving mechanical parts, in wet or humid conditions, outdoors, in high or precarious places, and around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic/caustic chemicals
Qualifications
Experience working with computers
Ability to meet all physical requirements
Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
Two or more years of operations/maintenance experience in a storage terminal
Two‑year technical or mechanical degree
Experience in a bulk storage terminal and/or pipeline operation
Mechanical, electrical, or process work experience
Compensation Pay: $25–$30 per hour with variable pay (bonus or other forms) based on performance.
