Overview The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

The candidate will provide planning support for Operations and Maintenance shops to include Cranes, Doors and Platforms (CDP), Crawlers, Transporters and Structures (STS), Emergency Egress System (EES), Ignition Overpressure and Sound Suppression (IOP-SS), Facility Ground Systems Pneumatics (GPNEU) and the Launch Equipment Shop (LES) – includes manufacturing/fabrication shops (machine, weld, sheet metal, pneumatics, cable fab, industrial paint, and maintenance/repair/assembly).

A background in production control, preventive maintenance planning, parts and material kitting, logistics inventory processes, and component calibration and cleaning processes are highly desired.

Work will be planned and scheduled in accordance with the Kennedy Integrated Control Schedules (KICS), to include support operations, service calls, non-conformances, and preventative maintenance.

This position requires extensive communication with internal and external customers to determine requirements for developing detailed work plans responsible for areas of responsibility.

Primavera is the primary planning and scheduling software tool.

High School degree, 10 years of experience is required. Possess moderate knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and TEAMS.

Possesses skilled knowledge in Primavera to include resource loading/leveling, logic linking activities by use of predecessor and successor, identifying dependencies when building schedule in Primavera.

Proven knowledge in developing plans and schedules in Primavera and/or other scheduling software.

Possesses skilled knowledge of the work document life cycle to include status management.

Familiar with the concept of preventive maintenance and asset management.

Must possess concise communication skills daily, both orally and written.

Skilled in customer service, required daily for customer interaction to discuss planned/scheduled work area requirements.

Requires resolving planning and/or scheduling conflicts via technical and schedule analysis.

Detail oriented and skilled knowledge with Primavera (scheduling software), Maximo and/or Solumina (computerized maintenance/work management system software).

Must follow strict work area rules and safety protocols.

Must be a self-motivated team player comfortable working in a dynamic environment.

Must be able to plan and coordinate work between multiple disciplines.

Must be capable of reviewing work instructions to determine planning and scheduling requirements – collaboration with engineering (both Ops & Design) will be necessary.

Must be capable of providing both verbal and written communication to facilitate timely execution of work.

Actively maintain an understanding of work priorities to resolve planning issues for assigned area.

Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires random drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.

Must maintain a positive work attitude by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, employees and management.

Physical Requirements

Will be required to climb stairs to access equipment to perform work assignment assessments, engineering evaluations, and job planning.

Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, hard hat and other associated personal protective equipment.

Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.

Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.

Position is located on a fabrication facility and industrial environment; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.

Work Environment

Work inside and outside throughout the work and shop areas.

Position may require daily individual to travel to different areas on site.

Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the center.

Climbing ladders, stairs and potential work at heights may be necessary.

All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.
